What are ICAT Approved E-Rickshaws?

What is an ICAT Certificate?

ICAT stands for International Centre of Automotive Technology. It is one of the leading Indian authorities that can perform AIS certification.

ICAT Certification has accreditation for all approvals of vehicles and their components under the Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR) – Rule No. 126 as well as permission from the BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) for tests on wheels, tires and glass for BIS Certification. In addition, ICAT also has the authorization of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) for testing and approval of generators, as well as various accreditations from NABL (according to ISO 17025:2005), the English VCA, the CAFE Sector Secretariat of the Ministry of Roads and Transport.

 

How does a company get ICAT Certificate?

There are several steps for a company to get an ICAT certificate. However, these are not as tedious as you may think. Let’s us walk you through them, because SODYCO has all it’s e-rickshaws approved by ICAT :-

Step 1- Visit the official website of ICAT and register your company there. Keep all the necessary documents of the company ready such as proof of legal status of the business entity as this is the step they are needed in.

Step 2- After registration, you will get an email by ICAT confirming your username and password.

Step 3- Now, you will have to open a new docket. Docket is similar to a new case opened by the manufacturer. Open a new docket for certification, after logging in.

Step 4- Now is the time to upload and fill the tables containing all the specifications of the E-Rickshaw.

Step 5- After the verification of all the documents, you will get an email of a generated invoice of the testing fee.

Step 6- After making the payment, you will now need to upload pictures of your e-rickshaw.

Step 7- Now,  ICAT will label your e-rickshaw and all the components such as the motor, battery and much more. Once your vehicle gets qualified and gets approved by the ICAT, you will receive the certificates.
