• Motor 

The BLDC motors are widely used in e-rickshaws. They can also be found in an array of machines such as well – home appliances, medical equipment, building controls, industrial automation, etc.  BLDC stands for brushing direct current. BLDC motors are specifically used in e-rickshaws given their high efficiency, small and compact motor size, lightweight, longer lifetime, longevity and durability, no sparking, steady operation, and variable speed. These BLDC motors are rated at 650-1400 Watts. 

• Battery 

Lead Acid Battery powers a majority of Indian E-Rickshaws. They are readily available. Lead Acid Batteries are designed not to leak. Therefore, during the installation process, vents are allowed for some residual release of air.

Another type of battery used is Lithium-Ion Battery. These batteries charge faster than Lead Acid Batteries. These batteries are also lighter in nature. All ions are individually sealed. Therefore, it cannot leak. This makes the installation process easy as it can be installed in any which way without the fear of leakage.

 

• Controller

The controller regulates the amount of power that flows from the battery to the electric motor, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the vehicle. The controller is highly functional and capable of controlling all functions and accessories in your e-rickshaw. The controller is responsible for managing the power supply to the electric motor, which drives the rickshaw. It controls the speed, torque, and direction of the motor, ensuring smooth acceleration, efficient braking, and overall performance. The controller also monitors the battery status, manages the charging process, and protects the battery from overcharging and deep discharge, thereby extending its life. In summary, the controller is an essential component of an electric rickshaw, providing reliable and efficient control over the vehicle’s electric system.

• Body and Design

The body of an e-rickshaw is typically made of a combination of metal and fiber, which makes it lightweight yet sturdy.

The body of an e-rickshaw is designed to provide maximum comfort to passengers. The seats are cushioned and spacious, and the vehicle has a canopy that protects it from the sun and rain. The front and rear wheels are designed to absorb shocks, making the ride smoother and more comfortable.
